Our Story: A Dream Born in the Dunes
Spindrift Sandboards was founded in 2018 by Amy Raney, a passionate outdoor enthusiast who fell in love with sandboarding during a family vacation. That first ride down a towering dune sparked a dream — a dream to share the joy, freedom, and exhilaration of sandboarding with others.
Since opening, Spindrift Sandboards has grown into more than just a rental company; it’s a community rooted in adventure, sustainability, and stewardship. As a woman-owned business, we are proud to inspire riders to chase their passions, embrace the outdoors, and leave a positive impact on the places we explore.
“From the first grains of sand to countless triumphant rides down towering dunes, my path as an entrepreneur has been a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and the pursuit of dreams.
Every great adventure begins with a spark, a moment that ignites the imagination and sets a course for the future. For me, that spark came during a thrilling sandboarding session on a family vacation. As the wind rushed past me and the sun kissed my cheeks, I knew I had discovered my passion. Inspired by the thrill and serenity of sandboarding, I made a bold decision to turn my passion into a business.
The grand opening of my sandboard rental business in March of 2018, marked the beginning of a new chapter in my entrepreneurial journey. The joy of seeing adventure seekers, both young and old, experience the thrill of sandboarding for the first time was immeasurable. Creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone could explore the unique beauty of sand dunes became my primary goal.
Owning and operating a sandboard rental business has been an extraordinary adventure. From the initial spark of inspiration to the evolution and expansion of the business, my journey has been a testament to perseverance, resilience, and the power of following one’s passion. Through my sandboarding community, I’ve seen the transformative impact of pursuing unconventional dreams and breaking societal norms.
